The heel height of your wedding shoes is of utmost importance. Your
dress will be fitted to accommodate the height of your bridal shoes, and if
you're not comfortable in really high heels, your wedding may not be the best
time to try them out.
Satin or silk shoes work well with shiny
fabrics, while a matte fabric sheen does well with a crepe shoe. Silk,
satin or crepe are traditionally the three most popular choices for wedding
shoes, but of course, your wedding dress and personal taste should have the greatest
impact on the shoes you choose. If you're wearing a non-traditional wedding
dress, your shoes do not need to be traditional either.
The perfect wedding shoes will need to be many
things, but mostly, they must be comfortable. Just think, you'll be walking
down the aisle, posing for photographs, greeting attendants, cutting the cake,
and possibly dancing in your bridal shoes. Imagine you at this reception, OK? This could add up to hours
and hours on your feet, so be sure, above all else, that you choose shoes that
are comfortable on your feet. Do not wear new shoes – never been worn –
the day of your wedding! When a natural vs. synthetic material is
considered; go with natural for comfort.
The rule of thumb is: Fancy dress/simple
shoes or simple dress/fancy shoes. If you choose both shoes and dress
with embellishments, then please make sure they coordinate. The shorter
the dress the more you can highlight the shoes. Make sure the white shoes
are the same shade as your dress; dying may be in order. Or avoid the
issue and choose contrasting or matching dress/shoe colors. Consider the
venue when choosing, if you can’t walk in them at any point in time rethink the
type of shoe i.e. sandal, flat, pump, platform etc. Please take in
consideration the height of the groom; you may not want to tower above
him. He could wear lifts in his shoes and you could instruct your
photographer to use height tricks!
